Tell UC San Francisco Medical Center To Abide By Their Hippocratic Oath

Jesus Navarro, dons a surgical mask.
Jesus Navarro worked for the last 14 years at a steel company, paid taxes, and has private health insurance that covers his much needed kidney transplant.  His wife is a blood match and is willing to give him a kidney. A private donor, Donald Kagan, is willing to pay for any additional expenses not covered by Jesus' insurance.  So why is UC San Francisco Medical Center (UCSF) denying him the kidney transplant that he desperately needs to save his life? Because he doesn't have a green card. UCSF stated that his legal status convinced them that Jesus may not be able to afford the post-surgery drugs that prevent the body from rejecting the organ.  And yet, hospitals treat thousands of foreigners each year as part of an industry known as medical tourism.  So we must ask again, why is a man who has private insurance, a family donor, a proven history of working and paying his bills, AND a private donor being denied a life saving kidney transplant?

Not only is it offensive to let a hard-working family man die, but he is in no way a burden on the health care system or social services. Sign this petition and tell UCSF that you expect them to uphold their Hippocratic oath and save this man's life.

If you find yourself reluctant to sign the petition, let me emphasize that this is not an immigration issue.  Jesus Navarro has private insurance, a family donor, and private donors from the San Jose area who have pledged to help with any additional expenses.  Specifically, Donald Kagan, the originator of the petition at Change.org and a man whose life was saved by an illegal immigrant who gave Mr. Kagan a much needed organ, has pledged to pay any post-surgery bills that Jesus cannot afford.  There is simply no reason to deny Jesus the transplant.
